The Kingdom of Egypt is a minor North African country, releasable from the 联合王国. While a puppet of the UK in real life, in-game it does not exist but does have cores on British Egypt.

Much of Egypt is occupied by the Sahara Desert, and the western part of the country is impassable for troops. The Nile River is surrounded by plains. The most important part is the Suez Canal, which reduces travel time to and from the Mediterranean Sea. Another important area is the Nile River Valley where most of Egypt's population (and thus manpower) resides. Egypt consists of eight states and has a fair starting population of 16,78M.

If released, Egypt borders the 联合王国 to the south and east, 意大利 to the west, and 法国 to the north-east. If all states are released, it may also border 利比亚王国 to the west, 苏丹 to the south, and either 以色列 or 巴勒斯坦 to the north-east.

Played correctly, Egypt can become a North African powerhouse, capable of turning the war in one side's favor. One can also aim to get the Freegypt achievement or conquer all of North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula and forming 阿拉伯.

Historical Background

The United Kingdom acquired Egypt from the Ottoman Empire in 1882, ending 365 years of Ottoman rule in Egypt and due to it housing the Suez Canal (built by a French company in 1859-1869), Egypt became one of the strategically most vital parts of the British Empire. During the First World War, the Ottoman Empire launched an attack across the Sinai peninsula in an attempt to conquer the Suez Canal, but were repulsed.

During 1922, the United Kingdom ended the protectorate status of Egypt and the country became effectively independent under King Fuad, forming the Kingdom of Egypt, but British troops still continued to occupy and control the Suez Canal.

King Fuad died in 1936 and King Farouk took over. Alarmed by the Italian invasion of 埃塞俄比亚, he negotiated the withdrawal of British troops from Egypt, except at the Suez Canal.

After the outbreak of the Second World War, Egypt remained neutral, severing ties with the Axis Powers. However, when the Italians joined the war, Egypt was invaded by Italian forces, and the British used Egypt as a base of operations to protect the Suez Canal.

After a series of intense battles against the Germans and Italians, including the decisive Battle of El Alamein, the Axis Powers were finally driven out from Egypt in 1942.

Egypt would remain a British protectorate until a coup d'etat in 1952 led to the fall of the monarchy and ended both the Kingdom of Egypt and British military presence in the area. The modern Arab Republic of Egypt was founded in its place.
